Our Impact
We selected a few examples illustrating how our work helped create change in schools and communities; fostering meaningful collaboration between youth and adults and ensuring that young voices are heard and respected. With a community partner, TSV co-designed personalized programs for youth civic engagement, health and justice-related issues
TSV's partnership with youth and Boulder County Public Health (BCPH) led to initiatives aimed at cultivating youth leadership and voice in decision-making. The work included a mix of research presentations, interactive workshops, and coaching on how to adapt TSV curriculum to meet specific program goals.
TSV constructed professional development courses for teachers
In partnership with Student Voice and Leadership (SVL), TSV created a year-long professional development course for teachers on practices that support youth voice in the classroom. This program is used across the Denver Public School district. Our trainings, which included community organizer, teachers, students and district leaders, have served hundreds of participants.
Research and policy training for students led to concrete changes in a school
Students at Empower Community High School identified the need for hygiene supplies and education. They wanted to normalize hygiene and help students without those resources. Utilizing policy training and data collection, students led the initiative and successfully secured outside funding to create hygienic drawers or "menstruation stations" in bathrooms. The award for their efforts can be found on our Articles page.
Our research impacts the fields of education, youth development, and civics
TSV team members have published articles in various journals and university presses. These publications are resources for other researchers, administrators, community leaders, teachers, funders, and students. You can browse these works on the Publications page.
